If you’re planning a cruise aboard the magnificent P&O Iona, one of the key decisions you’ll need to make is selecting the right cabin. Whether you choose the Select fare to pick your preferred cabin or opt for the Saver fare with a guaranteed cabin, it’s all about your personal preferences. On our recent Norwegian Fjords cruise, we chose the Select fare to secure a cabin that met our exact needs. We’d heard that the views along the Norwegian Fjords are truly priceless, and we wanted the perfect cabin to enjoy those spectacular sights.
We opted for a balcony cabin, and after considering the options, we selected Balcony Cabin 12.106. In this post, we’re giving you an in-depth look at this cabin and sharing our experience on this stunning ship.

Features and Comfort in Balcony Cabin 12.106
The Balcony
The highlight of P&O Iona Balcony Cabin 12106 is the large private balcony. It provides sweeping views of the front of the ship—ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or unwinding while watching the sunset. The balcony is equipped with comfortable chairs and a small table, making it the perfect spot to relax, read a book, or simply enjoy the serene surroundings. However, it’s worth noting that due to the metal-fronted balcony, the view might be slightly obstructed when seated.
Sleeping Area
This cabin can be configured with either a king-size bed or twin beds. We opted for the twin bed setup as it was just myself and my son. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep after an exciting day. Though the beds aren’t spaced as far apart as on other ships (which typically have bedside tables between them), this arrangement was necessary for the wardrobe doors to open fully. Each bedside lamp features a USB socket, which is a handy feature for charging devices overnight.
The Bathroom
The bathroom in Balcony Cabin 12106 is modern and spacious, offering a powerful shower with a shower screen (instead of a curtain), a large mirror, and plenty of storage for toiletries. The shower’s strong water flow, combined with luxury toiletries from The White Company, adds an extra touch of elegance. This efficient design ensures maximum comfort and convenience during your cruise.
Entertainment and Technology
This cabin is equipped with a good-sized flat-screen TV, offering a variety of entertainment options. You can enjoy the latest movies, catch up on the news, or watch cruise-specific channels that show daily activities and provide an interactive map of the ship’s location. It’s a great way to stay connected with what’s going on throughout the cruise.
Storage and Amenities
When traveling, storage space is always a consideration, and Balcony Cabin 12106 doesn’t disappoint. There are spacious closets with plenty of hangers, drawers, and shelves for your belongings. However, the space between the wardrobe and the bed is a bit tight, so you might need to close one wardrobe door before opening the other. The cabin also features a mini-fridge, so you can store drinks and snacks for your convenience.
Why Choose P&O Iona Balcony Cabin 12106?
Opting for a balcony cabin on your cruise adds a touch of luxury and enhances the overall experience. P&O Iona Balcony Cabin 12106 offers an unbeatable combination of space, comfort, privacy, and spectacular sea views. Whether you’re sailing through the Mediterranean or exploring the breathtaking Norwegian Fjords, this cabin is the perfect setting for a memorable and relaxing vacation. The added bonus of a private balcony allows you to enjoy the serenity of the open sea in comfort, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful and scenic retreat.
